Whether your fence is classic wood, fresh vinyl, or aluminum, fence cleaning is an important part of your fence care routine. Here are four fence cleaning “dos and don’ts” to get you on the right track.

Do:
Schedule fence cleaning regularly. Like any other home upkeep task, putting off fence cleaning will only make it more difficult to accomplish. Mold and algae growth can build up over time, making them harder to remove and more likely to cause damage to your fencing materials.
Stain and seal wood. Nothing beats a natural wood privacy fence! But wood and moisture don’t always mix. To protect your wood fence, remember to stain and seal your fence after we finish fence cleaning. This gives your fence a protective coating so it can continue to stand strong.
Don’t:
Pressure wash. While pressure washing might seem like a great time-saver in fence cleaning, it isn’t. At least, not without a significant cost. To be fair, it is true that pressure washing your fence might blast away some stains, but it will also damage your fence. Wood fences in particular will end up with damaged fibers, indicated by a “fuzzy” look. If your fence needs to be cleaned, contact our team about our soft washing service. Not only will it save you time and effort, but it is also a much safer option, as it won’t damage your fence.
Paint or stain vinyl fencing. While painting or staining your wood fence is a great way to protect it from the elements, the same doesn’t apply to a vinyl fence. Paint won’t stick well to a vinyl fence, leading to lots of paint flaking off into your yard. Painting a vinyl fence can also void your warranty, if you have one, so when it comes to vinyl fences, it’s better to enjoy the low-maintenance life and stick with simple fence cleaning.
